Since 2013, when the iMC (intelligent Machine Control) solution was first introduced in Germany, only one Komatsu Smart Excavator model – the PC210LCi – has been available in Europe. In the long run, another Komatsu Smart Excavator – the PC360LCi – appeared on the market. Both machines were equipped with a factory automatic 3D system, which set them apart from the competition. Komatsu, despite having a pioneering solution, has been working all the time to go one step further and offer customers even better technology.
And it happened! In 2020, a new generation of Komatsu Smart Miners, called iMC 2.0, was demonstrated. Currently, customers can choose from three models of Smart Excavators: PC210LCi-11, PC290LCi-11 and PC360LCi-11. Each of them has an automatic 3D system of the iMC 2.0 generation, improved with several new features compared to the first iMC miners. New features include: automatic slope bucket tilt, bucket angle lock and additional satellite tracking (in addition to the most popular GPS and GLONASS systems, also BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS).
Support for additional satellite systems also takes place on the iMC 2.0 Series smart dozers. In 2021, the second generation of intelligent Machine Control was introduced to hydrostatic dozers, namely the D51EXi/PXi-24, D61EXi/PXi-24 and the all-new D71EXi/PXi-24. Key differences from the first generation of iMCs include two antennas on the roof, an improved coarse dozing mode, and As-Built Data collection of existing terrain.
